Don't forget to turn ESP back on before the next bend, 'cos you'll be cornering like a runaway train. Of course, on a Passat I suppose you have to have the autohold handbrake turned off as well. It doesn't say if the 3200 revs is for petrol, diesel or R36. The early Mk5 Gtis were the only vehicles I know of that had a dealer flash available for Launch Control. If that vehicle supports it at all, it would involve a re-flash. ESP off, gearbox in sport, foot hard on brake, foot hard on accelerator, engine revs stabilise at 3200, foot off brake, pants change. No, Launch control is part of the Ecm/Tcm software and cannot be activated by Adaptation or Coding. this is more likely only done if it exists for marketing. excessive speed is one of the conditions that contributes to killing people. I did a Porsche 911 that way last week (Carrera 4!). regardless of how it works it seems strange that volvo would add launch control the same year they limit vmax. Personally, I find it much more satisfying to just carry some speed and sail past in the inside lane as the lights change or the roundabout clears. Some of the guys on the Golf forum have used it and report the satisfactory demolition of various low ranking beemers and chavmobiles. ![]() I've never tried it because the GTI is already pretty scary off the mark in S-mode and you look a bit of a prat sitting at the lights with the engine revving at 3000. ![]() During this mode, intervention between a shift is minimized. ( you can blip the throttle a bit to see if it's engaged before mashing) 5. The answer from the techie was that he believed it was there already and if not working could be easily enabled but half a dozen squirts of it would put you ready for a major service. Utilization of launch control results in the transmission entering the maximum acceleration mode. Put car in 'S' Race mode, or can be in manual. When I picked up the GTI last year, I asked about launch control. It was enabled on UK Golf's about 2006 and there is no info (that I can find) on when it made it to the Passat and on what models. The general consesus is that VW disabled it ex-factory on GTI's and TT's in the USA because it was blowing up DSG gearboxes (which are flakey enough without making a special effort to destroy them). A good root around will also tell you how to enable it on some cars, so long as you have VAGcom. In the winter when I was out doing draggy runs (ambient temp between 30-40F) I was getting rock solid launches. I bought this car in December of 2021 with PS4 A/S that had about 10k miles on them if I had to guess (only replaced due to a nasty puncture). Launch control has been set at 4k during all of this. I've tried both ESC in sport and off without a noticeable difference. Has anyone been able to use Launch Control with their North American Arteon I cannot get it to go. No clunking, no thudding, no wheel hop, just straight 4 wheel spin that's surprisingly smooth. When activating launch control on a dry surface (even with warm roads and tires) I lay down tracks for a good portion of 1st gear. Since it's a standard torque converter, it could burn out the transmission over time. Properly reset adaptations, primed, and relearned pump via OBD11 Yeah, the AISIN models don't have a launch control feature.
